My name is Michael Vierheller and I am a potter and special education teacher located in Thaxton, MS. I focus on creating functional pottery that has a cozy, handmade feel, with a strong dedication to quality craftsmanship.
My work is inspired by the natural elements of this big-beautiful place that we all call home, Earth. These elements guide me to mimic the natural surroundings into my work. Each piece of pottery is handcrafted, intentionally leaving indications of it being made by hand to create a soft, natural feel. All pieces are fired in an electric kiln.
All my functional pottery is food, microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe.
Vierheller Pottery is a locally run, small family business that operates out of a 10x20 shed. While all of the work is made by me, I enlist the help of my wife, Tristan, on other aspects of the buisness.
As I do not have a store front, my work can be found for purchase on Facebook. You can also find me at the local Pontotoc Farmers Market on most Saturdays during the summer, and at local festivals throughout the year. I have also just started carrying with Unique Furnishings at 7563 Veterans Highway West, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
A future goal of mine is to one day open a store front in downtown Pontotoc where pottery and art classes may also be offered.
A second, more attainable goal is that I want to be able to offer online shopping and shipping through my website.
